On Thursday, March 23rd, The South Oldham High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Band went to the annual KMEA Assessment hosted at North Oldham High School. The assessment involved each of the bands performing three songs that had been prepared for three judges. After their performance, the band that had just performed would go into a separate room to receive critique from one of the three judges. The assessment went very well for both the Concert Band and the Wind Ensemble as they both received a Distinguished from all of the judges. Olivia Cecil, the senior flute player for the Wind Ensemble, talks about her experience, stating, “I really enjoyed being able to catch up with friends from other schools. Our group played really well and we all had so much fun.”
